We are loving the Haba magnetic set that we bought recently. My almost 4-year-old finds the letter outlines like a puzzle to match up the letters. My almost 6-year-old loves the pictures and spelling what he sees. The magnets are good quality and they have done really well. There are very small pieces, so just be cautious if you're buying for a younger 3 year old.
